You should sign this petition to show your support for this wonderful amenity for the over 1,800 registered dogs and their families in Kingston. The fenced-in park will be located on the Capped Landfill and provides a beneficial re-use of a defunct piece of public land.
Kingston has been deliberately considering a dog park for over 18 months. A dedicated set of residents has worked hard to study and research the issue, and have identified the most prudent and responsible approach to implementing a brand new, inexpensive amenity to Kingston. Funded at 93% of costs for the first 5 years by a private foundation, the Town of Kingston needs to come to the table with a 10% match of just under $25,000. The Off Leash Dog Area Committee has submitted a Community Preservation Act grant application to the Community Preservation Committee for the $25K amount.
Though the Committee has successfully generated a wildly positive survey response from almost 400 people, and the park has the solid support of the Board of Selectman, we need to show direct petition support immediately to meeting the funding decision deadlines!
